It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.
The acting in this movie is really good.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
It's just great. It's also great that it will not continue to be on SYFY, which is the place where all good sci-fi series usually die.
I recommend this series to all who like to think while watching a show.
I do not recommend it to all who like to just watch.
In my view, this is the best sci-fi series (at the end of the third season). Period. A bit slow in Season One, then just the very best in Seasons Two and Three. Great ideas, great acting, incredible visuals. Wow.
This is about the best Sci-Fi or speculative fiction series out there (along with Babylon 5). What I find interesting is that the series changes genres a lot but it never rly bombs out. The first season is more of a realistic noir detective story, season 2 is political drama/sci-fi (that loses a lot of its realism) and season 3 is a drama with hard core sci-fi elements. Be prepared for some issues in the later 1/2 of the 2nd season, though. Something went wrong there (3/5) but the series recovers after that.
I have been watching The Expanse since season one and have love it. Finally there was science fiction series that felt like it wasn't created on a shoe-string budget. The special effects seemed first rate, but more than that, the writing was top notch. Each seasoned got better and better as the characters were developed and the story-line became more mature. That being, season 3 left me saying WOW!!!! From the first episode to the last I was super hooked. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. A must see.
